Seven hit in lightning strike on soccer field
Seven people were hit in a lightning strike during a soccer game on Sunday, as heavy rain over the weekend broke Switzerland's recent dry spell.
Three people were hospitalized after the incident on a soccer field in Canton Thurgau, northeastern Switzerland, said a report on the Corriere del Ticino newspaper.
The lightning stroke during a match between Sirnach and Weesen, two local teams playing in a minor league.
The heavy rainfall over the weekend brought relief after the longest dry spell on record in Switzerland, which has brought sunny weather and balmy temperatures across the country.
