The man, a 37-year-old Romanian dressed in black and posing as a religious missionary, was on his way to Brussels, Belgium when police stopped him for a check at Zurich airport.

The man was betrayed by the fact that he did not carry a Bible, something customs officers said a real member of a religious group would do, said a report on the Corriere del Ticino and 20 Minuten newspapers. When asked to show the book to police officers, he kept silent, raising suspicion, the reports say.

Stomach X-rays later showed the man was trying to smuggle about 500 grams of cocaine in plastic containers he had previously swallowed, the papers said.
