A one-kilometre portion of the A2 motorway near Arisdorf, about 20 kilometers east of Basel, was covered in the juicy red fruit causing it to become extremely slippery, the Corriere del Ticino newspaper reported.

It took authorities over three hours to clean the road and allow traffic to resume, it said. The cherries were being transported to a local distillery.
