A train driver in Zurich encouraged passengers to 'show the finger' to a tram after it blocked his path.

The driver of a train on the Forchbahn, the route that runs between Zurich Stadelhofen and Esslingen, was getting ready to leave on Monday evening when a number 11 tram swooped in front of him, online news site 20 Minuten reported.

“Once again he’s not given me right of way – everybody show tram 11 the finger!” the driver said through the speakers.

He also recommended that the passengers complain to the Zurich tram company, VBZ, for the delay caused by the tram, and commented that nothing happens when the drivers complain.

Forchbahn-manager, Hanspeter Friedli, confirmed that the incident had taken place. It was a human reaction to being blocked in and prevented from leaving, he told 20 Minuten.

“But that’s not what the speakers are there for,” Friedli added.

VBZ spokeswoman, Daniela Tobler, confirmed that they had been made aware of the incident and were taking action in relation to the report.
