New Zealand shot put great Valerie Adams' dominance of the event continued Wednesday as she recorded the best throw of the season in Zurich.

The 28-year-old double Olympic champion — who earlier this month in Moscow won a record fourth world shot put title — produced a suitably impressive performance for what turned out to be the final occasion the women's and men's shot put events were held at the main Zurich train station.

Adams threw 20.98 metres to better the previous best mark of the season, 20.90 metres, also set by her in London on July 27th.

The shot put competitions have in recent years taken place at the train station, on the eve of the Diamond League meeting, in an effort to try and gain a new audience for what is regarded as one of the less glamorous field events.
