Not using seat belts was critical to the scope of injuries from the tour bus accident in Namsskogan, according to The Accident Investigation Board Norway.
Simen Lian Hansen of The Accident Investigation Board Norway said to newspaper “VG”: “Preliminary findings indicate that many of the passengers used seat belts, but not everyone. This has affected the scope of injuries.”
He adds that they are in a preliminary investigation phase and cannot say anything more about the cause of the accident.
Four persons died after the Swiss tour bus veered off the road on E6 in Namsskogan municipality in the county of North-Trøndelag on Tuesday. The remaining 12 passengers aboard the tour bus have travelled back to Switzerland.
The German tour bus driver is temporarily charged for careless driving, but has not been questioned by police yet.
