Wawrinka reaches second round of US Open

Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka reached the second round of the US Open tennis tournament on Monday with a 6-2, 7-6 (8/6), 7-6 (7/3) win over Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic.
Australian Open champion Wawrinka, seeded third in New York, will face Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil for a place in the third round.
