Police in the canton of Bern on Monday launched a bid for help from the public after the body of a 15-year-old boy was found in the woods near Köniz.

The victim, a Swiss resident of the canton, was discovered in the Büschiwald, south of the city of Bern, on Sunday, police said.

Investigators are looking in to the cause of his death.

Police said initial indications do not point to the involvement of another person or persons.

Officers discovered the body after being contacted about a party having being staged in the woods on Saturday night.

The cantonal force issued a request for anyone with possible information about what may have have happened to phone 031 634 41 11.

The cantonal youth advocate is involved in the investigation.
