Snake smugglers caught by Swiss border guards

Swiss border guards discovered four snakes during the course of two separate controls this week, federal customs authorities said on Friday.
Customs officials in Basel seized two young boa constrictors, while border guards in Koblenz, in the canton of Aargau, uncovered two vipers, reported news agency ATS.
In both cases the drivers of the vehicles were German citizens.
Neither could produce papers for the snakes.
Officials took the two vipers to Zurich zoo while the boa constrictors were placed in the care of the cantonal veterinary service in Basel.
