Police are seeking witnesses after a dispute between the 63-year-old motorist and an unknown driver of a van turned ugly.

The incident happened near Pfäffikerstrasse when the two drivers left their vehicles and confronted each other.

After a brief verbal argument, the van driver grabbed the 63-year-old by the neck and bit him on the ear and the arm, police said in a statement.

The bitten car driver responded with pepper spray, causing his attacker to let go.

But it didn’t stop there. The van driver went to his vehicle and got an axe which he brandished at the older man in a threatening manner before starting to use it on his car.

The 63-year-old then ran away and sought medical help for his bite wounds.

Police are now seeking the van driver, said to be aged between 50 and 60, slim with a red-brown beard and 180cm tall. He is described as “volatile”.

Anyone with information can call Zurich police on 044 247 22 11.
