'Summer days': Warm weather set to sweep across Switzerland
Despite rainy weather across the country in recent weeks, summer is on its way to Switzerland.
From Monday, June 21st, the mercury is predicted to break the 30 degree mark in southern Switzerland.
Speaking with Swiss media outlet 20 Minutes, a spokesperson for weather monitor Meteonews said warm temperatures would sweep across Switzerland from next week on.
While the weather will break through the 30-degree barrier for the first time in Ticino, warm weather is forecast for the entire country, with temperatures of 25 degrees and above expected.
Meteorologist Stefan Scherrer told 20 Minutes the good weather was likely to last throughout the week.
“In Ticino, the 30-degree mark will be broken locally from Monday onwards,” Scherrer said.
“It is likely that the temperatures will rise to 25 degrees or more (all over Switzerland). In meteorology, we call these summer days.
“Due to a high-pressure area, the weather will stabilise next week and is unlikely to change."
