A total of 127,054 people were registered at regional job offices last month, 422 more than in June, the state secretariat for economic affairs (Seco) said in its monthly report.

The jobless rate for foreigners dipped to 5.1 percent from 5.2 percent, while the rate for Swiss citizens increased to 2.2 percent from 2.1 percent.

Non-Swiss accounted for 44.3 percent of those registered as unemployed in July, Seco said.

The unemployment rate was unchanged in most cantons with the highest rate recorded in Geneva (5.4 percent, unchanged).

The canton of Uri recorded the lowest rate at 0.6 percent, down from 0.9 percent the previous month.

In the canton of Zurich, Switzerland’s largest job market, the jobless rate remained unchanged at 3.1 percent.

In the canton of Fribourg the rate increased to 2.7 from 2.5 percent, while in the csanton of Graubünden it fell to 1.1 from 1.3 percent.
