Basel airport resumes flights after heavy snow
Switzerland's Basel-Mulhouse airport reopened early Friday after heavy snow forced the cancellation of some 60 flights the day before.
Authorities halted flights at 5pm on Thursday to clear the runway and had planned to resume traffic around 8.30pm.
But the snow continued to fall and they decided to halt traffic altogether.
Friday's first flight took off at 6.41am, and the first landing occurred at 5:09 am, according to the airport's website.
Further delays and cancellations were expected on Friday.
