Armed robbery disrupts train traffic in Fribourg
A man armed with a gun held up a public transport ticket vending counter at the Bulle train station in the canton of Fribourg and made off with several thousand francs in cash early Monday, according to a report.
“An armed man preyed on a temporary counter of Fribourg public transport before fleeing in a train after making off with several thousand francs,” Gallus Risse, spokesman for Fribourg cantonal police, told 20 Minutes newspaper.
Risse said police searched a train that was blocked for two hours at the Bulle train station from 6.52am but was unable to find the culprit.
Officers checked all the passengers on the train, which was immobilized for the investigation.
A replacement train was put into service, 20 Minutes reported.
Swiss Federal Railways announced on its website that the train service between Fribourg and Romont was disrupted because of a “police intervention”.
