Here’s a great thing about Swiss trains: you can travel on them across the country’s width, breadth, and - yes- height as well.
This means you can leave your car at home and take a train (almost) all the way to the slopes.
Let’s start with the resorts in the French-speaking Switzerland.
These are your options:
VosAlpes Express
This direct train runs between Fribourg and Le Châble in Valais) all the way to Les Portes du Soleil and Vaud Alps ski areas.
It operates on weekends and public holidays from December 2025 until mid-April 2026.
Verbier Express
As its name suggests, this train will take you – also on weekends and public holidays untii April 19th - from the Geneva airport and central station, as well as several points in between, to the pistes of Verbier in Valais.
TPF/MOB Snow Train
From January until the end of March, this train will take you from Palézieux in Vaud, via Bulle (Fribourg) to the slopes Gstaad, a famous ressort in the Bernese Alps.
What about rail travel to the slopes in the Swiss-German regions?
Though they are not the specially designated 'snow' trains, like in the French-speaking part, here too you can travel to Swiss ski resorts from major cities.
For instance from Zurich and Basel, trains can take you to Graubünden resorts of Lenzerheide, Flims, Arosa, and Laax, as well as to Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland.

What is ‘Snow’n’Rail’?
This is the SBB’s portal to all the witer sports destinations in Switzerland.
Depending on which resort you are heading to, you could benefit from cheaper train tickets – for instance, under certain conditions (such as the date of travel) you could pay up to 50 percent less for tickets to Davos Klosters, Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis, as well as tp 4 Vallées.
You can also benefit from discounts on ski passes in these and other resorts, if you book through the SBB.
