CH is going to need borders with the EU either way in the long run. This doesn't equate to market access or capital flows, it's simply airport scanners or a drive-through travel document check long-term. There is simply no escaping it unless the EU changes tack. If the Swiss say they'd like their country to remain the same, this is their prerogative and is rational; determining 'things are fine as they are' or 'let's wait and see' is not equal to a sentiment of hatred — that's ridiculous.

To me it’s incredible that people have no idea of the impact of their vote! If you vote in favor of the limit, it automatically means no free movement of people, no free movement of capital, no free movement of goods between CH and EU. These 3 principles are indivisable. Essentially it means no access to EU single market. Go on, vote ‘yes’ then.
