<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;" lang="EN-GB">Lawyers and parents have criticised public prosecutors for continuing to detain 14 young men suspected of taking part in the recent Zurich riots, saying they are being held in custody for political reasons to send out a deterrent message to others.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Police clashed with up to 150 rioters in a square outside Basel city centre at the weekend, while Zurich remained calm despite fears that there could be violence for the third weekend in a row.</span></p>
